Two years ago, I asked at a police station about how to reach the Sendagawa
Tunnel, as I was going there to search for ghosts. Pleased to meet you all. I'm Tomimatsu, the one that went through the experience of being scolded to no end by two scary policemen who said what I was doing was dangerous. Well, this is the first time I've sat down to write commentary, so please forgive me if I end up writing anything weird. But since anything goes in these things, I'll just be honest. My first meeting with Ar tonelico was in August 2005, so I've spent over a year and half on it. From writing the script for events like the synthesis conversations and the talk topics in the games, I also went on to script the stories of the Drama CDs and this breath of fresh air that the Flash Cosmospheres were, which came out right after the CDs. And so, after going through so many things we come now to the present. I've gone through a lot of things, huh? And I've also thought about all sorts of things as I wrote the scripts. And among all the things I've seen, since I'm hopeless at RPGs, I'm still bothered by how I still haven't been able to defeat Bourd when you fight him in Silvaplate. Bourd is terrifyingly strong. But the only thing that terrifies me more than him is Shurelia. It was with the creation of the third Drama CD volume that I came to know how terrifying she was. ...She can do whatever she wants in the Binary Field. She has an incredible freedom in it, and what's more, if she is with a girl that can write any sort of stories, there's no one that can stop her!! Since she has so much freedom to do whatever she wants, I end up crying at the thought of having to do something like the story from the Drama CD once again. The same goes for the Flash Cosmospheres, as I couldn't finish the Shurelia Chapter until right before the deadline closed on me. ...It seems she's getting teased in the Toukousphere, but that girl is as terrifying as I just said, just like one would expect from the oldest 16-year old who ever lived!! Well, the Flash Cosmospheres were all made with a mood-setting mentality, just like the Drama CDs were. The Aurica and Misha ones were hidden stories that happened during the events of the game, while the Shurelia one was a complete original, just like the Extra CD was. That's why all feel the way they do. The only different thing is that all the stories have a common guest character, which ended becoming the protagonist this time around. Yes, I'm talking about that girl, Koneko. There are many reasons why I decided to make the protagonist a girl this time, though they are all extremely personal ones: they were things I wanted to see, such as the ways in which a woman would solve a situation when she Dived into a Reyvateil, and how she would trigger a Paradigm Shift. It wouldn't be mistaken to think that she ended becoming a character that would talk with the other girls about their main worries, and try to find alongside them a girlish way to solve them. In that case, let's try making her into something like a lady who's every bit as graceful as she is spontaneous! Let's make her like that!! But as a result, we ended up making her into a girl that was the complete opposite from graceful, as she punched the protagonist of the game, broke through magic by punching it, and even delivered flying kicks to the final boss when she was before her. And after I finished writing the second part to Misha's Flash, I was asked this. [Do you like writing girls with this kind of personality?] ...I didn't notice it at the time. But it's true: I really like writing this kind of character!! Ar tonelico made me realize I liked something, even though I didn't notice it myself. Maybe it wouldn't be wrong to say Ar tonelico gave me the chance to know more about myself. However, even after it was announced 2 would be coming out, I'm still all over 1's characters for all sorts of reasons, and now I'd like to make another character that's just like Koneko. ...I'll still be going crazy after 1's characters like I'm now, even after 2 comes out? And while I think that, I'm still thinking that will depend on the kind of mood I give to the finale of the Flash Cosmosphere and the Extra CD. Well, I've rambled for way too long, so let's leave it here. See you later~ And it seems that the PG in PG12 has been changed to something else after so long... |
